Born in Guniea and Ivorian by adoption, Alama KANTE (this is her name) began her career as an artist when she was eight. She started with a band called "Panafricain" in the town of Abidjan. She learned theater, dancing and music in her neighbourhood

In 1992, she worked as a dancer with a prestigious company named "L'ensemble Kotéba".

In 1996, she was a singer for the "Go de Kotéba". She recorded with them an album called "Dam Gna" ("Destiny") produced by composer, arranger and sound engineer Bruce SWEEDEN who had already recorded and mixed songs for Quincy JONES, Michael JACKSON, Georges BENSON and some other big names of african american music.

Then in 2000, came out the LP "Faso Den".

In 2001, she started thinking about doing a solo career and in 2004 came out an eleven track album "JE VOUS INVITE", produced by a young ivorian composer DIABY Ousmane Adam's aka "Sun Adam's".

Alama is a young artist with a great potential carreer. She caries you along with her african rythms and her soul, funk, coupé décalé, zouk, r'n'b backgrounds, nicely mixing french and african languages.

She went on tour across all five continents (USA, Brazil, Europe, Ile de la Réunion, Canada, Africa ,...) and sang for great festivals like Couleur Café, Africa, Oyé...

Alama is a professional artist always seeking to improve her art. She is a self-taught hard working artist who managed to drag herself out of her family and learned to build her own ambitious artistic projects.

This first solo album was composed and arranged by the duet Charles BAH et Donguy, and Alama's older brother Habib KANTÉ, all of them are famous artists among african and caribbean musicians. Alama embodies her songs so well she puts a spell on you.
Her album is a clever mix of urban modernity, tenderness and respect for african values and traditions and her favorite themes are inspired by daily life.


In "JE VOUS INVITE", for instance, she talks about the legendary hospitality of african families. Alama, New Queen of Africa, is ready to come and prove it to you.

3. ARRÊTE TES BLABLAS : Les hommes qui parlent trop et font croire monts et merveilles aux autres alors qu'ils n'ont rien.

4. ABOU FAZ : C'est quelqu'un qui adore les enfants mais dit qu'il n'oublie pas aussi sa femme et ses enfants. Sa vie, c'est les enfants.

5. FAUT PAS TAPER LA GO : Ce titre traite du problème des femmes battues. La femme mérite respect.

6. SAYA : Hommage à ma sœur qui est décédée

7. WASSO : C'est quelqu'un qui aime se vanter. Dans la vie c'est important de rester humble et de garder les deux pieds sur terre car on ne sait pas ce que demain sera fait

8. MANDE : Louange à la tradition mandingue un dialecte qu'on retrouve dans plusieurs pays en Afrique de l'Ouest (Mali, Sénégal, Guinée, Côte-d'Ivoire,...). De montrer toute la richesse de cette culture et de rendre un hommage sur le travail de ses aînés tels que Mory KANTE (son oncle)
